Position: Dishwasher / Prep Cook
 
Reports to: F&B Manager, Executive Chef               Employment: Seasonal
 
Job Description: Wash and properly store all cooking utensils, china, equipment, flatware and glassware in a timely and professional manner. This position may also be responsible in assisting in basic food preparations.
 
Position Requirements/Skills:         
 

  • BC Food Safe 1 (or equivalent)
  • Previous kitchen experience
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Well organized, shows a sense of urgency; able to track multiple orders and multi task
  • Works well under pressure
  • Team player, works productively with others
  • Understanding of food safe practices
 
Duties and Responsibilities:
 
  • Wash all wares in dishwashing machine or by hand
  • Polish all platters and chafing dishes
  • Collect trash from kitchen areas;  empty garbage barrels, wash and re-line with new bags
  • Examine garbage for silverware, dishes and glassware
  • Wash and polish all stainless steel in kitchen, including shelves, dish cabinets, refrigerators,  ect.                     
  • Wash or clean receiving area and trash areas
  • Store all dishes and other wares in proper areas
  • Clean dish machine during/after each meal period
  • Perform other tasks, such as assisting in food preparation, putting away deliveries, cleaning coolers, freezers and store rooms
 
Safety awareness is very important. You should always be aware of safety concerns for the public, staff and yourself. If you are unfamiliar with safety procedures ask your supervisor for training. Safety is everyones responsibility.
 
Physical Demands:
 
  • Must be able to stand and exert well-paced mobility for up to 4 hours
  • Ability to lift 11kg (25lbs) regularly
  • Must be able to push and pull equipment of various sizes and weights
  • Must be able to kneel, bend, stoop, squat and stretch to fulfill tasks
  • Requires grasping, standing, walking, repetitive motions, hearing ability and visual acuity
