Position Requirements/Skills:         
 
  • Intermediate to advanced skiing/snowboarding ability
  • Have excellent communication skills
  • Be flexible and calm when dealing with guests
  • Be knowledgeable about Big White Ski Resort
  • Knowledge and skills to use drills and small hand tools
  • Ski/Snowboard equipment in good working order
  • Helmet
 
Duties and Responsibilities:
 
  • Education of guests and staff in the Alpine Responsibility Code (ARC)
  • Stand at SLOW and Family Zones for 45 minute shifts
  • Enforce the ARC
  • Daily set up and maintenance of the Slow Zones and Family Zones
  • Assist with cleaning the patrol hut
  • Assist with snow and ice removal at the hut
  • Assist patrol with mountain sweep
 
Safety awareness is very important. You should always be aware of safety concerns for the staff, public and yourself. If you are unfamiliar with safety procedures ask your supervisor for training. Safety is everyone’s responsibility.
 
Physical Demands:
 
  • Skiing/snowboarding 3-4 hours/day
  • Ability to lift and ski with 23lbs/10kg
  • Be outside 8 hours a day
  • Be able to lift and ski/snowboard with fences/tools
