Job Description: As a bartender you are responsible for providing a welcoming atmosphere to our guests, while preparing beverages in a timely manner according to the Moose lounge standards. Ensure your work area is kept clean.  Follow all BC liquor laws, assist in minimizing waste, prepare/keep all garnishes fresh and full at all times, properly controlling cash & Liquor inventories.
Position Requirements/Skills:         
  • Required to work flexible hours including nights, weekends and holidays and may be required to work overtime
  • To work under pressure in a fast paced environment
  • Report for work on time
  • Maintain a high standard of personal appearance and grooming, which includes wearing the correct uniform/foot wear and name tag while working
  • Follow opening, closing and daily on-going procedures and checklist
  • Prepare all beverages in a timely & efficient manner
  • Work closely with fellow employees to ensure smooth and fast service to our guests
  • Advise servers of any beverage item we are currently out of. Keep ongoing list of items we run out of or are running low on to assist in the ordering process
  • Greet and serve guests at the bar in a professional and friendly manner and build rapport by asking questions and initiating conversation whilst still working though any dockets
  • High knowledge of POS system (Squirrel & Moneris)
  • Knowledge of SWP & SJP & WHMIS
  • Understanding of Duty of Care as it relates to the responsible service of Alcohol
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Keep Bar fully stocked (alcohol/garnishes/glass wear etc.)
  • Ensure all bar condiments/garnishes are fresh – (olives, lemons, limes, oranges, cherries, all juices, simple syrup, grenadine, mint, berries, any other fresh item used for drinks)
  • Polish bar and wood around bar daily
  • Ensures behind the bar is always kept clean, floor swept and mopped, counters wiped, sink and dishwasher clean, garbage and recycling taken out as needed/or the end of your shift
  • Ensures all liquors are organized and presented to look visually appealing
  • Full range of knowledge in Beer/Spirits/wines and their locations within the bar to ensure efficient service
  • Polish glassware
  • Responsible for ensuring freshness of wines and other bottled products by ensuring only one bottle of each wine or other product is open at any time
  • Keep an accurate record of all spillage on a daily basis, submit this report along with your cash out at the end of each shift for inventory purposes
  • Keep bar area clean and organized at all times
  • Accountable for cash float and balancing sales at the end of the day
  • Receive payments for food and beverage provided and provide change and receipt to guests
  • Have full knowledge of entire menu and preparations, including daily features/specials/beverages/wines
  • Take all guest orders, ring them though correctly and expedite the orders from the kitchen in a presentable and timely manner according to the sequence of service
  • Offer suggestions by using suggestive selling techniques
Physical Demands:
  • Spend significant portion of time spent standing and walking.
  • Lift up to 50 lbs/23 kg multiple times a day
